In order to achieve the perfect chrome finish, you must first choose the type of Chrome Powder Coat you want to apply. This type of powder is highly reflective, which means you can read printed text in the reflection. It is recommended for motorcycle parts, under-hood components, and exterior trim pieces. You may also opt to topcoat the finished product with clear powder, but you should remember that the latter requires a long baking process at a metal temperature of over 900 degrees Fahrenheit.

Super chrome powder coats can develop fish eyes if improperly applied. This is caused by contaminants like silicone and oil in the paint. It can also result in fish eyes if you do not clean the surface thoroughly. This issue can be avoided by preparing the surface thoroughly. This process is called outgassing. Outgassing ensures that the surface is free of contaminants before the super chrome powder coat application process starts. Moreover, you must also keep your working area clean during the entire process.

If you have untreated chrome, it will prevent the application of a powder coating. It will not adhere to the surface if it is not properly cleaned and primed. You must also remove any existing chrome, especially low-grade or heavy-grade chrome. Blasting will etch and scratch the surface, leaving it unappealing and prone to rust.

Make sure to mark the area to be blasted before applying a chrome powder coat. Otherwise, the result will be an uneven surface. The best solution is to use less pressure when blasting, so that the chrome piece receives an even finish. Be sure to mark blasted areas so you can apply more chrome powder coat. You may also want to consider applying a second coat after the first. It is best to bake the piece for twenty-five minutes or longer, depending on the size.

Before applying a Chrome Powder Coat, you must ensure that the surface is clean and dust-free. You should also remove any paint or debris that may have collected on the surface. If the surface is clean, the coating will adhere to it better and result in a seamless finish. If you want a flawless finish, be prepared to sacrifice a few things, like a smooth surface. The results will be worth it.
